Marigolds

October 30, 2009

I love that even at the end of October we can go outside and not need a coat.
I love flowers. All flowers. Even though we live in a small place with and even smaller patio I still have to have flowers. Hannah (like Caleb) shares my love of them. Today we went outside and looked at the marigolds. I told Hannah everything I knew about them and then she smelled them again and again. She then touched one and accidentally tore the head off it. I snapped a picture just as she realized what she had done. I could tell she was surprised and maybe a little shocked that they were so fragile. She tried to fix it by putting it back but found that it could not be fixed. Sweet girl.

All abord

October 30, 2009

In the afternoon Caleb has "quite time." He is to go in his room and play with his toys while I also have "quiet time." Since he isn't taking naps anymore I applied this to the time when he would normally being napping. It's worked out great so far. This afternnoon he set up this table and tracks and even put on his hat. I came in only because his playing had become very animated and I was curious to what he was doing. He is a very imaginative little boy and can play on his own (just like Cory as a boy) for a long time.

October 28, 2009

Hannah loved the beans at the ward party. Here she is enjoying, and I mean really enjoying the last bite.

Monica Ward Halloween Party

October 28, 2009

Caleb wanted to be the Casey Jr. Train (from Dumbo) for Halloween this year. I found quite a few "how to's" online and got to work. Caleb wanted it be black and red, with a smoke stack and have the words, "Casey Jr. Circus Train" printed on it. He looked great in it and was really excited to ear the costume all night. He even had a little engineer hat that he thought was really cool too. I borrowed a costume from Sara and represented "my people" as a Native American. I made a little tule tutu for Hannah and she thought she was very beautiful in it. The highlight was the debute of a dance Alison worked hard to put together. A few of us performed it that night for a suprise entertainment. No one, but those that performed it, knew it was going to happen. Everyone was suprised when Jesus started dancing, all by himself, to Black Eyed Peas "I got a Feeling." He danced solo for 20 seconds and then two crazy YW jump in and then the rest of us. It was all choreographed and fun.

Big Brother teaching

October 26, 2009

Caleb loves to help and whenever he asks to help I have a dilima... Do I let him help knowing it will take longer and not be as good as if I did it myself or do I just Do it myself. Most of the time I let him help because if I kept telling him, "No thanks, " he'd probably stop asking and then I'd have to do it myself (or risk a battle). So I let him vacuum today and then he taught Hannah how to vacuum. It was very sweet to watch the two of them work together. After Hannah went down for a nap Caleb and I made play dough together and dyed it pink with beet juice. I found the idea in the Family Fun magazine and thought Caleb would like it. He did... and he didn't eat it!

She eats crayons

October 21, 2009

I always thought the kids that ate paste, playdough or crayons were... well, kind of strange. Caleb never ate crayons so I assumed I was not going to be that "Mom." Well, I am . Hannah really enjoys chewing on crayons and I've had to readjust my past opinion. This afternoon it became very quiet all of the sudden and when it's quiet that's when I drop everything and usually find a mess or like today a child who has clandestinely taken the giant crayon box out of the cupboard and hid herself behind the table to nibble to her hearts content, or until Mommy finds her. I did and snapped this picture before taking away her snack.

Uncle Jesus' Birthday Dinner

October 13, 2009

For Uncle Jesus' birthday we went to dinner together and enjoyed a delicious meal. The best part (beside the food) was that we had our own room. None of us were worried about the kids being to loud or busy for the other customers because there were none else in the room beside us. We decided that this is the way to dine. I hope this happens next time. p.s. I know that my eyes are closed but I think it's because the food was soooo good. Look at Haanah's plate!

Cherri - uhho

October 6, 2009

Hannah found the cheerios and then decided to dump them on the ground. The one good thing about it was she dumped it on the kitchen floor instead on the carpet which made for an easy cleanup. Ohh and she was distracted for a little while which is always a good thing for Mommy.

The two girls

October 4, 2009

Alison and I took the kids to Grandmas' for some fun. It's amazing to me to see the two girls together. They are only 2 1/2 weeks apart and they do basically the same things. By the time Patrick was born Caleb was 5 1/2 months already. To compare the two of them was based entirely upon what Patrick would be doing or trying to remember what Caleb did his first month or 3rd. I like that the girls are close and I love that Alison and I both had girls. Perfect!

In and Out and Ben?

Sept. 30, 2009

Could anything top a delicious hamburger coupled with the entire Randall/Moreno family eating that delicious hamburger together? I don't think so, well... maybe if Janae had been there too. Ben rode his motorcycle to Bakersfield this morning to have lunch with us. Then drove back to the Beach. What a life!

Wipe your feet

Sept. 29, 2009

After going to the fair "Wipe your feet" just doesn't cut it. So Caleb and I cleaned the shoes we wore to the fair and after that was done, Caleb said, " let's do more." So I said, "why not?" All of our summer shoes got a good scrub and honestly Caleb did at least one shoe of every pair. He is a very hard working little boy and will not stop until the job is done.

Preschool at the Fair

Sept. 29, 2009

Peanut Butter n Jelly Preschool Top Row: Emily, Kya, Caleb, Sister Ricks, Michael
Bottom Row: Tess "Twinkie", Katie, Patrick, Wyatt, Elijah
You can never have too much fair. At least we didn't think so. This morning all the preschool kids and Moms met at Sister Ricks house to drive to the Fair together. It was a blast. The kids were wild and free and didn't always listen but all Mom's helped out each other and tried to laugh along the way. I'm so glad we went!
Caleb and Patrick petting a cow. But I don't think Patrick looks very comfortable being so close to that cow, Do you?
Caleb is very comfortable around animals. He always has been. He wants to hug and kiss every dog, cat and lamb that he sees.
Kya with Eden Rassmussen (one of Caleb's favorite babysitters) petting her lamb.
A much needed lunch. And afterward? Caleb pulled down his pants and underwear and went potty on a tree... in front of everyone. I was embarrassed at first but then, oh well, who cares? In the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter.

Monday night at the Fair

Sept. 28, 2009

Tonight we all met at the fair and had fun. All of us except Elena. She didn't like the animals...period. Can you blame her? I mean look at that sheep? Would you feel comfortable standing next to it if it was looking at you like that? Well neither did Elena. In fact it seems that all the animals had that "look" in there eye. We saw the baby chicks and the cows and of course the tractor ride. Caleb was in heaven. He could have ridden the tractor all night. But as his parents we just couldn't make that wish come true. Other people wanted on too.

Enlightened

Sept. 24, 2009

Grandma sat down at the computer with Hannah this afternoon and introduced her to musical performances via youtube. Hannah enjoyed Opera, classical and even Kristen Chenoweth. Hannah is just like Caleb... she loves any kind of music and never tires of listening to it. The two of them stayed at the computer, just like you see here, for almost an hour.

Happy Birthday Hannah

Sept. 18, 2009

Hannah is 1! Her first year went by twice as fast as Caleb's first year and I've been told it continues to race on. Hannah is sweet and loving and the happiest baby I have ever met...and now she's 1!!! Her birthday was yesterday but we celebrated it with our family today. We met at Solera park at 10am and after the kids played we had a early lunch (nachos, grapes and salad) and then on to the regular birthday stuff: presents and cake.

Birthday Cake

Sept. 18, 2009

We sang Happy Birthday to Hannah (in our 5 part harmony of course) and watched Hannah eat her cake. She was very dainty about the whole thing and wanted to feed me more than herself. Oh well.

Waterworks

Sept. 18, 2009

It was hot when we started at 10 so at high noon the sun was blazing. The sprinklers came on and we all thought the same thing, "Let's get wet!" So we all went in and got cool.

Back at our place

Sept. 18, 2009

After we said our goodbyes to the Moreno's and the Randall's my parents came back to our place and we hung out for the after hours party a.k.a. My dad and Caleb put together the shopping cart while we all talked and watched. Hillari made the shopping cart "pretty" and handed it over to Hannah.

A jumper for Caleb or Hannah?

Sept. 16, 2009

I bought this jumper from Alison today and immediately came back upstairs and put it together with Caleb. I put Hannah in it but she just wanted to get out. Caleb wanted in so I thought, "okay" it won't hurt anything. Well turns out Caleb loved it and thought it was the best thing he had ever played with.

A Train Ride

Sept. 13, 2009

Cory had this great idea a month ago to take Caleb on a surprise train ride ... somewhere. Well this morning the idea came to fruition. Cory bought two train tickets to Fresno and back. Caleb was really excited. He couldn't wait to get on the train and when he was on he looked outside the window the entire time. After they got to Fresno they had just enough time to walk to McDonald's have a french fry and then walk back. What a red letter day!

Laughing and a Bath?

Sept. 12, 2009

Tonight the kids took their usual bath together only this time Caleb was a stand up comedian and Hannah had the giggles. Caleb was so funny to Hannah that I had to ask Caleb to stop being silly so Hannah could catch her breath. Here I am joining in on the fun by blowing on the shower door. It was a hit even after I had done it 12 times.

Reading with Grandma

Sept. 10, 2009

Connie is always available to read books to the kids. So when Hannah came up to her with this one she was happily welcomed into Grandma's arms and story began.

Hannah's still a Baby

Sept. 7, 2009

Since Hannah isn't turning one for another 10 days she is still a "baby" and I wanted to get a few cutsie pictures of her before she does. We headed over to Grandma's with a couple outfits and went crazy. The first dress is one that I made and the next is one that Lori Moncuir gave to Hannah and it is the sweetest dress I have ever seen. It suits Hannah's personality just right.
