Cory killed a Black Widow spider he found in our bedroom closet this morning. Yikes! Black Widow Spiders are not my favorite. I felt like Black Widow Spiders were watching me all day today, just waiting for me to make a wrong move into their territory. Yea...I was paranoid.

At 10:30 am we met the Hansen kids at the Park and played there for a few hours. We then walked to Grandma's house, watched Toy Story 3 and then walked back home. This was a long day. I felt tired and ready for bed at 7pm. But when does that ever happen?

What a Lady!
Dec. 6, 2010
I found Hannah this morning sitting at the little gray table we have, picking the sock lint out of her toes! Gross! She found it very satisifying. What a Lady!

We walked to the Park and Caleb made a friend named Chaz. The two of them pretended to be Captain's of a ship and then played soccer and baseball together.

One fine Day
Dec. 5, 2010
This morning Cory got out his guitar and Christmas song book. He laid out a blanket and began to play a few Christmas songs for us we were busy with the morning. I made pancakes) A Saturday tradition) while Caleb and Hannah played together. Hannah came over to Cory and picked up a pic to play too. So Hannah strummed and Cory fingered the chords to, "Silent Night." We made it over to Connie and Jerry's to visit with Sara. She's only here for one more night before she and Connie head back to Utah. Sara and I watched P.S. I Love you and made Brownies with Peppermint chips while Cory and Caleb washed the car. p.s. don't worry, Hannah was taking a nap, we didn't forget her at home.

Roll in the leaves
Dec. 4, 2010
We went to the Park and found a lot of dried leaves that were too irresistible to pass up. Hannah rolled in the leaves and they stuck in her hair.
Afterward Caleb and Hannah discovered that putting a bag on their head was a really fun game.

A Christmas Concert
Dec. 3, 2010
Connie treated Sara and I to a Christmas Concert. It was in Orange County so Connie and I left around 2:30pm to be there for the 8pm show. We made it there with enough time to have dinner (she's a great date) and then walk around the mall and look at all the fancy shops. I saw a beautiful Harry Winsor Emerald and Diamond necklace that just said "take me home Stephanie." My Birthday is coming up so... maybe.
The concert was amazing. Ben played a few French Horn solo's and Janae helped the Soprano section sound full and beautiful. I feel so lucky to have been a small part of it. The best part of the concert was when the Conductor invited everyone in the audience to sing Hallelujah (From the Messiah) along with the choir. A woman a few seats down from us should have been in the choir. She basically had it memorized and was probably trained by the same person as Celine Dion.

Homemade Caramel
Dec. 1, 2010
My Mom told me that she would teach Amber and I how to make her homemade caramel.
We met at Amber's house this morning and stirred away! After the karo syrup and sugar had come to a roiling boiling for 20 minutes we began adding the butter and evaporated milk slowly stirring constantly for an hour until it was all combined and the temp. had reached 242 degrees.

After walnuts and vanilla were added the caramel was poured into a pan to cool. We put the pan in Amber's garage to help the caramel cool faster. After the caramel was cooled and cut we wrapped them up individually in wax paper. Done! They are hard to resist. I'm hoping that supply will soon outweigh demand. As of now the demand is high.
Caleb and Roegan jumped on the trampoline for an hour. It looked like so much fun that I joined them and tried to burn off a few of the calories I had already consumed.

Pumpkin Pancakes
Nov. 30, 2010
I found a recipe last night for Pumpkin Pancakes (Click here) and thought I'd try it this morning for breakfast. Caleb loves Pancakes but orange Pancakes? They like them. Hurray! The Pancakes are very thick. The first batch were too thick so I made them smaller and lowered the heat and they cooked all the way through.
After breakfast and school, we walked to the park. We walked along the lake. Caleb found a bee that was warming itself in the sun. He picked it up and held it on his finger.

At the park we played in the sand and like the bee warmed ourselves in the sun. We walked home and used the sticks we found to make "music" on the fence.
Since Hannah can officially climb out of her bed now I converted her crib to the toddler bed after she woke up from her nap. She was very excited for the change. She cozzied herself under her blanket and read a book in her new big girl bed.
